生物科技系系徽

過去人類對生物的認識大致止於外表,到了1950年代開始發現有DNA,於是對生物本質的認識更往前進一大步。人們逐漸由基因上DNA的排列次序來了解為何每種生物與個體各有不同特質。也因它的變異而產生畸形或疾病,但也更進一步利用基因的轉殖來生產某些特殊物質或來複製生物等。

在這短短的五十年,由於生物科技的急速發展,很多過去的「科幻」,今日已逐漸的出現,且人們對未來的發展也充滿了信心與期待,因此約略可以「昨日之夢、今日之寶、明日之星」來形容「生物科技」,21世紀也因而被宣稱是「生物科技」的時代。
